  • Primary Rate Interface/ PRI Open or Close

    PRI is a T Channel Service providing options for both Data and Voice connectivity. This is a common service for organizations with classic Phone Switch equipment (PBX), allowing the PBX to connect to the Public Switched Telephone Exchange (PSTN). PRI is also known as ISDN PRI or sometime T1 PRI. ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network. PRI is the high capacity service carried on T1 trunk lines between telco central offices and your location.

    PRI divides a T1 digital signal into 24 channels of 64Kbps capacity per channel. 23 of these channels can be assigned as one telephone call each, the equivalent of having 23 separate telephone lines. The 24th channel is used for signaling information and special features such as caller ID and hotel / motel information services. This service provides DID or Direct Inbound Dialing for direct station calling with a 10 digit number. It is a popular service for call centers, nursing homes, multi-point offices which need the ANI automatic number identification or caller ID data.

    Iserv provides Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) for Office Phone Systems and Businesses. POTS is very reliable service and also remains the most widely available telephone service option for businesses which exist outside of metropolitan boundaries.

    POTS Overview:
    POTS is the voice-grade telephone service that remains the basic form of residential and small business service connection to the telephone network in most parts of the world. The name is a retronym, and is a reflection of the telephone service still available after the advent of more advanced forms of telephony such as ISDN, mobile phones and VoIP. It has been available almost since the introduction of the public telephone system in the late 19th century, in a form mostly unchanged to the normal user despite the introduction of Touch-Tone dialing, electronic telephone exchanges and fiber-optic communication into the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

    Reliability: 
    While POTS provides limited features, low bandwidth and no mobile capabilities, it provides highly reliable service, and outside of metropolitan areas, often remains the best available option for telephone and fax connectivity.

    Uses:
    Voice lines for business extensions and fax lines for fax machine connectivity.

    Iserv’s SIP trunking service provides seamless integration with existing IP-enabled PBX phone systems. It’s easy to replace traditional fixed phone services to streamline vendors, eliminate telecom line contracts and achieve significant cost savings.

    You can reuse all of your existing phone numbers, and Iserv manages the transition from beginning to end to ensure a painless and satisfying migration.

    Because SIP Trunks use a data Internet connection, they also provide better failover than traditional PBX groups as a SIP Trunk can use your secondary ISP connection or be quickly rerouted to your Disaster Recovery Operations site.
